Meet us at the Orocco Pier Wedding Fair on Sunday, 1st Nov 2009

Ask us anything you ever wanted to know about wedding photography and meet us in person. The most important thing when choosing a wedding photographer is that you get on with the person and start building a rapport from the first meeting. A good photographer will be able to reassure you and will be open to answer questions about your concerns.

If you have your own ideas about wedding photography - why not share them with us? Sometimes, our clients send us sample photographs and funny ideas to re-create on the wedding day. We try to incorporate your ideas into our way of working so we capture your day and the special moments the best we can.

Meet us at the Orocco Pier Wedding Fair on Sunday, 1st November from 12 pm - 4 pm. One of our previous clients - Yvonne - who was married in March this year - will be also there to answer any questions - from a bride's perspective. (some photographs can be seen here)

See you then :-)

A rainy autumn shoot - with fantastic images!

Today we met Catherine at the amazing Norton House Hotel, near Edinburgh, to take some photographs. The weather wasn't on our side, but that's no reason to cancel a session! We managed to take some romantic autumn photographs as well as some edgy urban images of Catherine - and we didn't get wet at all!

Cheers to Donna and Gary

Donna and Gary exchanged vows yesterday during a romantic and fun (!) ceremony which was followed by a great reception at the North Queensferry Hotel. Congratulations to you both! Everybody was so helpful at the reception and so relaxed too. We had lots of time for additional photographs before dinner and even during the evening celebrations when we took the bride away for some sneaky flash images in the long corridors...

We hope you have a lovely honeymoon and we will see you when you get back.

Just before the receiving line, I saw the big collection of champagne glasses which I used as a frame for this magnificent image.

Never mind the business... Alvin Stardust... £85K

How does this all go together? Last night, I was taking photographs at the "Never mind the business" event at the Glasgow Hilton Hotel, organised by the charity Action for Children. 500 people had an amazing evening with different quizzes, (strange but cool!) actors and the evening entertainment which was moderated by Clyde 1 Radio's presenter Peter Martin.

Nobody knew who the surprise band was going to be, but everybody was singing along when Alvin Stardust came on stage. It was a very successful evening and the charity raised over £85000.

What a wonderful lady!

Shirley is celebrating an important birthday very soon and wanted to fulfil a dream of hers. She wanted to have a lovely portrait of herself together with a grey (white!) horse. We managed to persuade a friend who has the gorgeous boy "Desmond" who was only too happy to pose for the photographs!

Shirley is overjoyed with the images and cannot wait to show them off in her home.

The shortest Engagement shoot ever...

Today, we met Joanne and James, who are getting married at the amazing Roxburghe Hotel in Kelso in December this year. Because they had a day full of appointments, they decided not to have a pre-shoot, simply to save time. But we were cheeky and asked for 5 minutes and we managed to get a small selection of romantic and fun photographs of the two of them.

Their wedding will be fantastic and we cannot wait to see them again.

Studio photos? Or maybe not?

Just recently, a client brought her 2 boys to the studio. We spent a bit of time in the studio, building towers, playing (soft!) football etc. and we ended up with some amazing photos. Ross, the little one, was a bit shy to start with, but he soon felt at ease and enjoyed his time. Arran, 10, is a little poser and was all too happy to try out different things.

But as the session was over and the family was about to leave, I asked them if I could take just a few photos of the boys outside.

The little one was all too keen to copy his brother which resulted in a cool photograph of the two of them. In the studio, it was difficult to pose them, but outside, "magic" just happens ;-)

Even though the decision was a tough one when it came to the image selection, the family decided on a stunning multi-frame with images I took outside rather than the ones taken in the studio.

Dalmahoy and Fireworks

Debbie and Chris celebrated their wedding at the Dalmahoy Hotel and Country Club near Edinburgh yesterday. An amazing couple who had lots of surprises for their friends and family including fireworks in the evening.

As always, we try to capture the little details that tell the story of the day. Their wedding photographs will be released once they are back from their honeymoon. Today, I am simply adding a photo to the blog which I saw when I was taking photographs of the table decorations. Little things like this add this little bit extra in your wedding album.

Roula and Peter at Lennoxlove

Roula and Peter from Abu Dhabi were married at Lennoxlove House in August 2009. Family and friends travelled from Lebanon, UAE, and the South of England to join them in their celebrations. Lebanese traditions, such as the Zaffa dance before the main meal as well as the Dabke Dance during the evening, were mixed with the cutting of a stunning wedding cake and a special first dance performance by Roula and Peter.

The below images show a small selection from a great day.

Sarah and Jamie in July 2009

Sarah and Jamie celebrated their wedding at the Apex International Hotel in Edinburgh in July 2009. What a party this was! Even though it was raining (a lot!) we managed to dodge the showers and took some photographs on the hotel's balcony - overlooking Edinburgh Castle.

Sarah and Jamie have just received their wedding album - telling the full story from beginning to end. I joined Sarah around 11 am in her hotel room and took some (actually, many!) photographs of the preparations. Her bridesmaids were in the room too and they were a lot of fun and kept spirits high. My husband joined the groom who was with his Best Man, family and friends in Costorphine. The romantic marriage ceremony was held on the fifth floor of the Apex International Hotel.

We covered the speeches with reportage photography - unobtrusively - and re-joined the party after dinner and took some amazing shots during the first dance and evening celebrations.

Here are a small selection of images of this fantastic day.

Karima and Steven in March 2009

Karima and Steven, who live in Kuwait, celebrated their wedding in Steven's home country. They exchanged their vows during a romantic wedding ceremony at Edinburgh's registry office. I managed to take some nice photographs during the preparations in the morning. Even though there was a language barrier with Karima's family who are from Algeria, we had lots of fun and I was offered some traditional Algerian wedding cake which Karima's mum specially made and brought to Scotland. My husband spent his time with Steven and the guys and tried to keep everyone on time.

After the ceremony, we took some photographs on Edinburgh's Calton Hill and then we joined the rest of the party at the Balmoral Hotel in Princess Street.

Yvonne and Kenny in March 2009

We have seen quite a few weddings, but this had to be by far the most relaxed one! Yvonne and the girls got ready in an amazing room in the hotel in Haddington and had lots of fun. Yvonne received a romantic bouquet of flowers from Kenny on the morning of the wedding. Everything was such a slow pace but when it came to going down the stairs and walking down the aisle, the laid-back morning was forgotten: Yvonne flew down the stairs and ran down the aisle to say "I do".

Even during the ceremony, Yvonne and Kenny managed to amuse their friends and family.

We will be seeing Yvonne again soon when we arrange a "Treasure the dress" photography session. Yvonne will be wearing her dress again and we will find a suitable venue to take some more stunning photographs.

Today, Kristy was in our studio in Bathgate and showed off her bump! Only 3 weeks to go until the big day. Kristy was so relaxed and enjoyed her session in the studio.

Congratulations to Sheila and Malcolm...

Sheila and Malcolm celebrated their romantic wedding in Linlithgow yesterday. Sheila looked stunning in her gorgeous dress and the bridesmaids were so much fun!!! Malcolm, who is from Yorkshire, wore a kilt and his Best Man made a toast to his kilt during his speech!

As soon as they are back from their honeymoon, more photos will be revealed...

A family get-together in Scotland

This family celebrated their annual get-together in Scotland this year. The two sons live in the USA and visit their parents in Scotland regularly with their families. This year, the whole family enjoyed their summer holidays in the UK and used the opportunity to have a lovely family photograph taken in a local park.
